About ERGT Australia

Established in 1994, ERGT Australia is a leading commercial training organisation providing emergency response and safety skills training to high risk industries such as oil and gas. ERGT provides professional, engaging and safe training services, specialising in the use of simulated environments to develop skills and behaviours in an effective hands-on manner.

ERGT operates three Oil & Gas Safety Training Centres across Australia in Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. These centres immerse trainees in a simulated high-risk environment that is designed to best prepare them for working in the Oil & Gas and other high-risk industries.  ERGT specialises in the delivery of Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), operating dedicated HUET centres for Esso Australia and the Australian Defence Force. ERGT delivers training to a range of standards including those of  OPITO, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

ERGT Australia and the Centre for Safety (C4S) officially embarked on a partnership in December 2014 to support innovative safety skills, and behavioural research and education. This partnership facilitates a transfer of knowledge and experience between industry and academia. This is achieved through exchange of data for the purposes of research, and the translation of research into practical outcomes, to improve the safety capability of individuals and organisations working in the oil and gas sector, and other high risk industries.

This research partnership with ERGT Australia allows C4S researchers valuable opportunities to study real-time critical incident command behaviours and team dynamics in realistic simulated situations. In return, this generates relevant research to inform important industry issues.

Examples of past collaborative efforts between ERGT Australia and the Centre for Safety include research projects such as:

ERGT Australia have also played a significant part in the activities of the IM4DC Occupational Safety and Health Leadership training program. They facilitated the Common Safety Training Program for the program’s participants at The Oil & Gas Safety Training Centre in Jandakot, Perth.
